It helped me heal from pollution exposure, chronic fatigue, trauma, and long covid. It gives me more breath, more life every day I spend here. It is a surprise that this somewhat healthy forest existed in the first place. Then, we found it. Unexpectedly, we had enough to get here. Fuck privilege, it's a miracle.</image:title>

Slow growth. Their mushrooms, saplings, and creatures lived in his skin. He was theirs. Gut punched, I felt how fast, how entitled my internal clock was by comparison. I belonged to almost nothing. I wanted it quick. I don't know how long that handshake was. His body bent time, a strange portal. Parts of me, survived from deep past, knew how to belong, knew tree time. They woke up. Ancestors living in cellular memory, forgotten, stirred. Something bigger than either of passed through our palms. Now I was theirs, too. And I was charged.</image:caption>

I fear for my forest with the smoke settling here, changing the pH of our pond, changing the air, changing the soil. I feel lucky that it is smoke and not another pollutant that the forest has not seen before. At least these creatures understand forest fire, if not the current scale of it. The vitality I worked so hard to regain is gone in one day. In a few, helpless, toxic breaths, my lungs are swampy.</image:title>

      <image:title>Free Resources - Mystical experiences happen through a heartfelt desire to connect - Mystical experiences are not complicated. You don’t need any qualifications. Most people have them from time to time in their daily life. They are experiences of connection, awe, and love. They are genuine. They require authenticity and a certain openness. The openness can be achieved through plants. I think this way is valid, but I don’t prefer it. I prefer to force nothing.</image:title>
      <image:caption>It can also be achieved through emotional ritual, which I theoretically think is valid, but in practice I don't like. I don't like to feel manipulated, and I have zero desire to manipulate.  Deep connection can be achieved through trust, a heartfelt desire to connect, and a willingness to let go of that which separates us, a willingness to let go of preconceived notions of perception. I prefer to teach gently, very gently, with choice all along the way. I use safety, understanding, curiosity, and love. I also just deeply trust the present, whatever students are experiencing is perfect for them.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Free Resources - I needed a Guru’s help to navigate a difficult and dangerous awakening. - When someone’s consciousness is changing rapidly due to spiritual practice, it’s very helpful to have a personal relationship with someone who is a little farther down the path than you.</image:title>
      <image:caption>This is very different from willful spiritual practices, from things you learn. There are practical, “how do I live in the modern world” considerations. In the states, unless you are very lucky, you still have to make your living and interact with society. If it’s an awakening like mine was, that is difficult. When your body and consciousness are changing rapidly, it’s disorienting. It helps to have practical advice. It helps to have the cell phone number of someone who can give that practical advice. You might need it on the train or in a back alley of Chicago. I know I did. I don’t know if what I am describing is a guru relationship. It is a personal relationship, and it’s what helped me the most in the early days of my dangerous awakening more than a decade ago.</image:caption>

I don’t think his help gives him free range to abuse me or anybody else. I went into the relationship with my eyes wide open and said “no” a lot. I was a bad disciple. I am not going to spend the rest of my life pointing only to him. I am very, very grateful I met him. I might not be alive today without him. I don’t think people who “need” gurus are inherently weak or broken.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Free Resources - What to do if you’re having a hard time getting to yoga… - If structured yoga practice/movement practice is something you're craving, but finding hard to maintain, give yourself permission to do less.</image:title>
      <image:caption>Do your daily/weekly/three times a week, but do a lot less when you do it. Glory in the movement that feels good. In the movements that challenge you, do just a little bit or modify it a lot. Set a timer and stop after fifteen minutes or five (yes, even in my live class or with one of my recordings).  One of my favorite quotes that continues to help me heal is, "If it's worth doing, it's worth doing half assed." (It's from How to Keep House While Drowning by KC Davis.)  You know where the edge is. Give yourself permission to wave lovingly at it from very far away, doing just a little bit and loving yourself radically while you do. Trust that when you're ready, you'll get curious about your edge again someday. It'll be there still, waiting for you.  Regardless, just a little bit is good.</image:caption>
