About Dr. Liz

Hi, I’m Dr. Elizabeth Olson (she/they), a chiropractor and yoga teacher. I spent years learning personally from yoga masters in two lineages, teaching yoga full time at a busy city studio. I went back to school and got two graduate degrees (DC and MSACN), founded my own clinic, consulted on yoga research, and taught yoga teachers.

I spent fifteen years of my life learning about healing from both science and yoga tradition. Now, I teach people to heal themselves using yoga, science, and intuition.

As a chiropractor, I’ve worked in diverse clinical settings, consulted on yoga research with the University of Michigan, and founded Healing Arts Red Wing. I hold a master’s of science in applied clinical nutrition and was adjunct research faculty at Northeast College of Health Sciences. As a teacher of yoga teachers, I create custom yoga science curricula for yoga teacher training programs worldwide. I teach anatomy and physiology for massage therapists and yoga teachers, and am the founder of Yoga Close to the Bone.

I’ve taught thousands of yoga students of varying ages, abilities, and health statuses around the world. I am trauma-sensitive, and adept at making yoga accessible—physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually—to anyone.

I was personally trained by yoga masters in two lineages. I am certified in the 26-and-2 Hot Yoga Series and I AM Yoga. I had a spiritual awakening while training intensely for the 26-and-2 yoga competition. My training included, among other things, three hot yoga classes a day plus one hundred backbends a day for one hundred days.

My advanced yoga training happened in the traditional way, spending personal time with master teachers, getting daily feedback from them, and watching them teach. Most of the things I learned, I want to pass on to my students. Hopefully, the unhelpful traditions stop with me. I’m grateful for all of it.
