Discipline Almost Killed Me
I had a realization that changed everything.
I used to be very disciplined. I was disciplined with everything: yoga, health, eating, work, social life. I was so disciplined that I was actually continuously putting myself in stressful situations because I was trying to be “good” and “achieve.”
Then, my body couldn’t take anymore stress. I got sick. I needed to adapt, to change the way I was relating to the world from discipline to love. Living from my heart was uncomfortable at first. Change caused some upheaval, but it was so worth it!
One definition of health is the ability to adapt. You may be like me, needing less discipline and more love. You may need more discipline. You may need a shift in a different area of life. My story isn’t so much about discipline vs love as it is about change.
Adaptation infuses my teaching. I am in the moment, making yoga accessible to a variety of needs. I love helping folks adapt one on one in private sessions, as well.
